How the AC/DC Power Adapter works and the reason of heat
The power adapter serves as an intermediary device between the power grid and electronic devices, primarily responsible for converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). It supplies power to electronic devices either through a charging cable or by direct connection. During operation, the adapter typically emits a faint buzzing sound and generates heat. This phenomenon is attributed to the energy consumption of internal electronic components such as transformers and capacitors during the transmission and conversion of electrical energy. Therefore, it is not surprising that some degree of heat generation occurs during normal use.

Is it okay for an adapter to get hot?
In practice, if the ac/dc power adaptor complies with international safety standards and is used within its normal operating parameters, cooling measures are generally unnecessary. If you feel that the temperature of the dc power adapter is excessively high, it is advisable to change the heat dissipation environment. Avoid using the dc adapter in environments with excessively high temperatures or confined spaces, and consider reducing its operational load. 
 
Although the heat generated by the power adapter under normal operating conditions is within acceptable limits, prolonged use in high-temperature environments can accelerate the aging of electronic components. This may reduce the operational lifespan of the device, or due to inadequate heat dissipation and excessive heat buildup, which may damage the adapter's electronic components. Such damage can compromise the electrical performance of the equipment and even pose safety risks. Therefore, to ensure the proper functioning of electrical appliances and the safety of the user, it is crucial to maintain appropriate control over the temperature of the power adapter. In these cases, implementing cooling measures should be considered.

How to cool a power adapter?
Cooling methods for a power adapter can include the following aspects:  
1.Provide a good ventilation environment
While the power adapter is generating heat, it also needs to continuously draw in air for cooling. Therefore, the placement of the power adapter and the ventilation conditions of the surrounding environment will affect the cooling effect. To improve ventilation efficiency, it is recommended to place the power adapter in a well-ventilated area, such as a certain distance away from walls and obstacles, and not to place it on heavy objects or cover the heat dissipation ports (some power adapters have heat dissipation ports on the side or back of the adapter).
2. Use a power adapter cooler
A power adapter cooler is a device that can lower the temperature of the power adapter and effectively provide cooling and ventilation conditions, reducing the surface temperature of the power adapter. Many power adapter coolers use different cooling solutions, such as fan cooling and aluminum alloy cooling, with prices ranging from tens to hundreds of yuan. Of course, there are certain limitations to using a power adapter cooler. When purchasing, pay attention to parameters such as the adapter model and fan size.
3. Pay attention to the ambient temperature
The ambient temperature also has a significant impact on the temperature of the power adapter. For example, in summer or when using a computer in a room without air conditioning, the ambient temperature may reach over 30 degrees Celsius, causing the surface temperature of the power adapter to rise significantly. Therefore, in such situations, it is advisable to keep the ambient temperature comfortable, such as opening windows for ventilation or using other cooling devices in a room without air conditioning. 
In general, under normal usage conditions, electrical appliances’ adapters do not require special cooling. However, in some special circumstances, appropriate cooling measures are still necessary. By providing better ventilation conditions, using power adapter coolers, or paying attention to the ambient temperature, the power adapter can be effectively protected and its lifespan extended.
