What's a power adapter?

A power adapter is a device that converts alternating current to direct current and can also be called an external power supply. Power adapters are essential components of many electronic devices, responsible for providing a stable and reliable power supply, so it is widely used in electronic devices, such as laptop chargers, monitors, water filters and so on.

The power adapter can be divided into two types of  ： Desktop Power Adapter and Wall Mount Power Adapter according to the connection method.

The current direction of alternating current changes periodically, and the electrons change direction periodically from forward to reverse. That is, the alternating current will switch directions back and forth in the circuit at a certain frequency. The most common form of alternating current is the sine wave form, which means that the current changes from a positive peak to zero, from zero to a negative peak, and back to zero again within each cycle, and so on. Alternating current works on the basis of Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.

 A direct current flows through a circuit in a fixed direction. Whether in time or space, the direction of the current is constant, so the flow of direct current does not change periodically. Electrons flow from the negative side of the power supply to the positive side, forming a stable current path. The working principle of direct current is relatively simple. When the power supply provides a constant voltage difference, the current will flow from the positive terminal of the power supply to the negative terminal in a fixed direction.Because the direction of the DC current is fixed, it can provide a consistent voltage output, which makes it very suitable for equipment and systems that require high voltage stability.
