Switch Power Supply Introduction:

Switching power supplies can be referred to as switch mode power supplies, which efficiently convert electronic power supplies. They are used to provide power to sensitive devices that require an efficient and stable power supply. Any switching mode power supply contains some storage components to store electrical energy to power the load device, and some switching components to turn the storage components on and off at high frequencies during charging and discharging.

When the switching element is in a non-conducting state, power is supplied to the load device through the discharge of the storage element. The use of switching regulators distinguishes SMPS from linear regulators. Switching regulators (such as transistors) constantly switch between on and off states in SMPS.

As a result, their time in the high-loss state is very short, which reduces the power consumption of the system. In a linear regulator, all power is consumed in the form of heat, reducing the overall efficiency of the system. Thanks to the use of switching elements that operate at high frequencies, SMPS can be made with high efficiency of up to 95%. When high efficiency and a small, lightweight power supply are required, SMPS can replace any linear regulator.
